Expecting? How to get started with your newborn session.
Eeeee congratulations, mama! You have a new bundle of joy on the way! It’s an exciting time filled with anticipation and joy. As you start planning for your newborn’s arrival, you may be wondering what to expect when hiring a professional photographer. As a mom myself, I know how quickly these precious moments can fly by, so let’s capture them while we can! From maternity to your newborn session, I am here for it all!

Booking your session
First things first – let’s get your newborn session booked! My calendar fills up quickly so I recommend booking your session as early as possible, ideally in your second trimester. This will ensure that I have availability around your due date and can plan for your session accordingly!
When your sweet baby finally arrives, we’ll schedule the session for no more than 7-10 days after their birth. This is the perfect time to capture those sleepy, flexible poses that everyone loves. Plus, it’s safest for your baby at this point, so you can rest easy knowing that your little one is in good hands.

Prepping for your newborn session
Now that your session is booked, it’s time to start thinking about colors and styling. Don’t worry – I’ve got you covered! I have a nice selection of backgrounds, props, wraps, headbands, and more for you to choose from. Whatever your vision is, I’ll work with you to make it a reality. And the best part? You don’t have to worry about a thing! I hold all my newborn sessions in my cozy studio, where I’ll provide everything we need for a comfortable and controlled environment, perfectly suited for your little one’s needs.
Do I need to bring anything?
All you need to bring is your baby, some extra milk, and a pacifier. If you have a preferred color scheme or theme in mind, I’m happy to work with you to make it happen. My goal is to make this experience as stress-free and enjoyable as possible for you and your family.

The day of your photos
On the day of your session, you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the experience. I’ll take care of everything else! I’ll work with you and your baby to create stunning photos that you’ll treasure forever. Each newborn session usually takes at least 2 hours depending on the baby! This accounts for the little things that may come such as your baby needing a bottle, baby fussing, and poses being set up.
Adding Family members to your session
You just had a baby and I’m sure you’d love to soak it all in! If you want to include siblings or parents in the shoot, I’ve got a cozy “lifestyle” set-up in my studio that’s perfect for capturing those special family moments. I also have a selection of neutral backdrops for those more posed looks. I’ll work with you to create the perfect set-ups, and we’ll take as much time as needed to get the shots just right!
